About the Nunnery
A Place of Learning, Devotion & Inner Peace
Sherab Chholing Anim Shedra, located in the lush Sarpang district of southern Bhutan, is a thriving Buddhist nunnery home to over 60 ordained nuns. Established to preserve and propagate the sacred teachings of the Buddha, the nunnery provides a nurturing environment where women dedicate their lives to study, practice, and service.
Under the guidance of revered spiritual masters, the nuns engage in rigorous study of Buddhist philosophy, ritual arts, and meditation. The nunnery plays a vital role in the spiritual life of the surrounding communities, offering prayers, blessings, and ceremonies throughout the year.
